5 Ways to Wear Spanx Dressed Up or Dressed Down

Faux leather leggings have become a staple in a lot of closests lately. I have a handful of different brands and the Spanx Faux leather leggings (this is not sponsored, promise) quickly became a favorite of mine at the beginning of the year. I bought mine at Nordstrom, but they are available a few other places outside of the Spanx website that could pop up on sale here and here. I did go up a size in these leggings since I want just a tad more room if I wear them on Thanksgiving or at Christmas! I’m going to share 5 different ways to style them for everyday wear, a girls night out or date night with your love!

Poncho: Abercrombie, Amazon | Black Shirt: Amazon

Spanx: Nordstrom | Leopard Booties: Shein| Nordstrom | Wide Brim Hat: Target

Look number one dressed up is perfect for the holiday season! A poncho is cozy, hides anything you don’t want shown (like the food baby I’m about to have on Thanksgiving) and you can’t go wrong with buffalo plaid! This exact one I bought from TJ Maxx last year for over $60, was a little bit a splurge but it’s heavier and good quality that I just couldn’t pass up, so above I’m linking similar ones that are available now.  I wore it often throughout the holiday season last year and plan on doing it again this year! The poncho paired with a longer black tee and these leggings are a perfect cozy casual look. Add on a statement shoe, like these leopard booties and you are ready for a night on the town! Mixing patterns during any point of the year is the bset but I think it’s perfect for the holidays!

 Baseball Cap : H&M | Steve Madden Slip-Ons: Macy’s

Look number one dressed down is perfect for doing some holiday shopping in! Keep it cozy and cute with a poncho and leggings but remove the booties and the wide brim hat for a more casual look with textured sneakers that I linked above and a baseball hat. Easy and you looked pulled together without really thinking about it, my favorite kind of outfits!

Draped Jacket: Nordstrom | Tunic Tee: Old Navy | Earrings: Francesca’s

Booties: Nordstrom

Look number two dressed up is such an easy one, black pieces with a pop of color. What girl doesn’t have black in have of their closet as half their wardrobe? This draped jacket was a find during the N-Sale and I can’t tell you how many time’s I’ve already worn it! It has a sort of suede feel and look, definitely a staple piece to have for Fall and Winter. I purchased a medium in this jacket to have a little bit of a looser feel and that was also the smallest size left in the store. Let’s be honest, I probably wouldn’t have ordered it and totally forgotten about it if I just didn’t buy the medium haha!  This tee is a tunic length and has slits on the side and is similar to the slit tee I have and one that always sells out at Nordstrom. The Old Navy Luxe version linked above is true to size and bought it in a small. The version from Nordstrom, I definitely need to size up for more length and get a size large, which is a much more looser fit also. The booties are some of the best and I’ve talked about them plenty of times. They still have a few sizes left at Nordstrom linked above, but you can find more sizes here or similar style just other colors, here.

Scarf: Macy’s

Look number two, dressed down! Again, having the all black (with touches of white), brought back those patterned sneakers linked above. I didn’t mention above, you may have to size up a half size in these particular sneakers. So again, swapping out the booties for sneakers, removed the hat and big statement earrings and not a bright pop of color but adding some sort of color with a scarf is another easy look. If you all haven’t noticed these outfits are all meant to be easy looks to put together. The scarf I have on, I bought from Macy’s last year from the same brand as my booties in this dressed up look and it’s soo cozy that I could sleep in it! It’s a wrap and scarf all in one and keeps me incredibly warm during these cold winter months in IL.

Vest: Old Navy | Sweater: Old Navy | Booties: Nordstrom

Mini Initial Necklace: 6th Borough Boutique

Look number three, dressed up version is PAIRED WITH A VEST! I could have this vest in every color I think and be okay with it, not just this vest…any vest, especially faux fur ones! My eyes just light up like a little kids on Christmas when I see a good vest. During the holidays, I feel like a good vest just adds another element to pull your outfit together. This vest is from Old Navy, is TTS and man they have really stepped up their clothing game over the last year I feel like! I’m obsessed with Old Navy and now there is one 5 minutes away from my house. Ehhhh, not good for the bank account….oh well my closet will love it! Anywho, this vest pairs perfectly with this sweater that is close to a tunic length and I stuck with a size small for this one. If I would have gone up to a medium, it would have probably given me a little more length. These booties are another from of mine from the N-Sale that I wear on a weekly basis. They are TTS and I wear thiner no – show socks with them since the sides of them go down a little further.

Hunter Boots: Amazon

Look number three, dressed down is with hunter boots which are a perfect piece to have in your closet that you can wear all year round. I choose to have a slight pop of color with this darker outfit by adding these Hunter Boots and of course my trusty baseball cap. A baseball cap paired up with any outfit is my jam, not just on bad hair days. Now that I think of it, I probably have as many baseball caps as my husband does, if not a few more. A girl has to have choices, am I right? Just an FYI for the boots, I size down a full size in this brand, even with thick socks on during the winter months with the boots the size is still perfect.

Front Open Cardi: Nordstrom | Booties: Nordstrom

Look number four, in it’s dressed up glory. I used to really dislike cardigans growing up, I just never liked how they looked on me and had hard times pairing them up with things. Now, I’m like give me every cardigan thats made in each color stat! I love a good cardigan and have figured out of plenty of ways to dress them up. I love it paired with this all black outfit for a more edgy look. You’ll notice my thing for hats and how I love pairing it up to dress up an outfit. If you don’t like hats I totally get it – it’s probably the same feeling I had when I didn’t like cardigans growing up! A good black bootie is something that you can also, never not have enough of. These are definitely a great additional to dress up or dress down with having brown block heels. These booties would be best if you sized up a half size.

Gold slip ons: Target

This outfit, can be worn dressed down so many ways for look number 4. I love these gold slip ons from Target are TTS. There aren’t a ton of sizes left in this shoe but you could put on black tennis shoes like these ones (that also come in leopard print). Give me all leopard print for any outfit! This outfit I’ve also paired up with my black UGG boots and a black scarf like this one for an ultra cozy feel.

Denim button up: H&M | Booties: Goodnight Macaroon

The last dressed up looked and probably my all time favorite, because every single thing in this picture is something I wear often! This demin button up is one I bought last year and they still have it + other colors are available, which I may have to order! I wear it open over a long shirt or cami more often than buttoned up. If you do plan to wear it buttoned up, I’d say go up one size it’s a little form fitting. Can I talk about these boots though! The hubs bought them as a Christmas gift for me last year and I wore them all the time last Winter and have been wearing them since it got cooler. Maybe I’ll put a post together on different ways to style these boots. They are available in a tan color-here and of course black-here. If you have big calves, I’d possibly find other ones because they are pretty snug. I do also wear them with fuzzy socks to stay warm during colder days and I don’t have any issues with the size. I purchased the size 40, as I’m always between a 9 and 9.5.

For the final look dressed down, it is such an easy everyday look. The best thing about denim shirts are you can wear them so many ways. I love denim and denim together with my OTK boots or sneakers to be dressed down. Big heart eyes! I’ll put a post together of some different ways for you next! Black is always a good base to work with and put anything over it.

I hope this gives you some fashion inspo on how easy some of the pieces you already have in  your closet could be to style multiple ways! Leave me a comment below if there are any go to pieces you have on repeat below! Keep a look out for some great sales coming up during the holiday season to take advantage and buy staple pieces you can wear during the fall and winter months.
